Your Idea, Our Design!

At FairCAD we work on everything related to 3D/2D design for our customers including CAD, CAM, Graphics, animations, idea generation, concept development, industrial design, product styling, sketching, mechanical design, product animation, rendering, promo videos, assembly and instructional videos, graphics design, packaging, packaging die-cuts and so on. We work with software like Solidworks, Keyshot, Blender, Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Lumion, Creo, Photoshop. Illustrator etc to give our customers exactly what they want and better. We show a few drafts even before the project is awarded to ensure that our clients are satisfied with the work. All the deliverables are shown first before any payment is released. Let’s get in touch and have a fruitful conversation! Below is some of our work related to NPD, for a detailed category wise portfolio, click the links in the main menu.

Modelling a Bicycle in Fusion 360

For Myself, Apr 2020

  • Modelling a bicycle using freeform and parametric approach to test the capabilities of Autodesk Fusion 360
  • Free form abilities far surpass any of the parametric design software namely Creo, Solidworks, Inventor even
  • The graphics and UI are a job well done by Fusion 360 guys
  • But parametric capabilities are far inferior for engineering applications, compared to Solidworks, Inventor or Creo

Testing form modelling in Fusion 360

For Myself, July 2020

  • Couple of models to test the free form capability of Autodesk Fusion 360, it indeed came out on top
  • The effortless (after some practice) complex organics modelling in Fusion just turns the tables in concept design
  • Numerous shapes can be manipulated in this software without much effort which is ideal for early form modelling and styling in concept design phase
  • Once the shape is decided, parametric modelling can begin

A Submersible Heater concept

For the Society, Feb 2021

  • This concept is designed to change the image of the mighty household electric water heater
  • The immersion heaters which is used in home to heat water is inefficient, cumbersome and unattractive, which is why an attempt is made the change it’s design
  • The presented concept is much efficient (thermal simulation done) and attractive which makes it desirable be rich and poor alike

Modelling the Heavycover camping box

For Self, May 2021

  • This design is similar to Heavycover Inc’s camping tiffin box. The main use case is to carry and heat food directly on fire while camping
  • This CAD model involves sheet metal modelling, 3D sketches, and a multi-component assembly on an intermediate difficulty
  • All the parts have to be dimensionally precise otherwise the parts won’t fit each other and section views in the patents can’t be shown precisely

SoPure, Solar water harvester cum purifier

For the Society, Apr 2021

  • A concept for a solar water harvester cum purifier.
  • The water is collected on the solar panel roof and flows into the tank
  • The solar panel should track the sun (ball joint support)
  • The solar panel drives a RO purifier located inside a tank partition
  • The hard byproduct water is collected in another partition which is fed to washroom and toilet use
  • Combined with hydroponic vegetation, it can bring true value in customer’s home

A Knife cum Peeler

For the Society, May 2020

  • A knife cum peeler product is designed and prototyped
  • The knife has a cutting edge on one end and a peeling blade at the other
  • A bearing surface supports the knife blade inside the handle which also allows it to slide from one end to the other
  • Static simulations are done to test the stiffness and strength along with contact stresses

A Portable washer

For the Society, June 2017

  • A portable human powered washing machine
  • Made for customers who travel often
  • Multiple concepts were developed and a preferable one selected based on aesthetics, ergonomics and functionality
  • The paddle in front should be cranked to turn the drum inside which connect via a gearbox and freewheeling bearing
  • Push button exist to open the hood and for draining the water from the rear

A Band-saw grinding machine

For the Society, Nov 2016

  • A pneumatic, semi-automatic saw band saw grinding machine is developed
  • The two grinders are mounted on each side of a saw which is held in pneumatic grips
  • A button is pressed for starting the cycle after the band saw is secured in the grips
  • The left and right grinding wheels move towards the band saw for grinding operation.
  • Limit switches prevent the grinders from over reaching
  • The whole system is programmed using PLC

A Kitchen cleaning device

For the Society, May 2015

  • An electric kitchen cleaning product is developed from scratch
  • Multiple brush attachments are used for various utensils
  • Embodiment design is done for injection molding in multiple part because of assembly requirements
  • The control PCB is custom designed in a circular profile which can be housed in the handle
  • Rubber grips are provided for comfortable and secure holding

An Automated Closet

Design Consulting, Feb 2015

  • An semi-automated closet design which can be operated with a switch, just as in the case of a elevator
  • The switch drives the shelves through chains, shaft, and couplings
  • The storage capacity and comfort is improved multifold since the user does not have to bend or rise more than a comfortable height for using it
  • The entire setup is supported on the body which is made of plywood

Modelling a BLDC motor in detail

For Myself, Mar 2017

  • A BLDC hub motor assembly modelling in Soliworks to test the software capability
  • Solidworks is definitely one of the most user friendly software for machine design CAD with a robust toolbox for faster modelling
  • Assembly design is very convenient with easy joints/mates
  • Rendering capabilities are good enough for intermediate work
  • Solid modelling is very convenient with standard, Boolean and fastening features

Modelling Man lift

For Myself, Jan 2015

  • A man-lift modelled in Solidworks in detail to learning the software and also to test the software capabilities
  • To simulate the exact movement of linkages the dimensions had to be precise
  • Every single part that can be seen in this CAD assembly (and many inside) are made personally (instead of importing any standard parts from the library)
  • Solidworks is indeed very suitable for machine CAD modelling and simulation (motion, strength, animation etc.)

Rice husking machine

Design Consulting, Feb 2016

  • A rice husking machine is designed and CAD assembly is developed for fabrication
  • The main body is made of MDF (composite wood)
  • The rotating rollers are mounted on standard bearings
  • Springs provide the necessary force for rice to be husked when pulled in between the rollers
  • The husk is collected in front of the machine in a container
  • The necessary fits and tolerances were provided for smooth functioning

Design and prototyping of breathing system of high speed
engine to be used in IITD Formula SAE race car

M. Tech Project, Aug 2003

Under guidance of:
• Prof. L.M. Das, Centre for Energy Studies, IIT Delhi
• Prof. P.M.V Subbarao, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Delhi

The thesis investigates the intake and exhaust design of a high-speed engine and its effect on speed, torque, and power characteristics. The effect of runner length, valve size, plenum volume and exhaust sizing were studied and were optimized for Formula SAE race event. The results were used to design and prototype the intake and exhaust of FSAE IIT Delhi race car in 2014. The theoretical design was first made and based on it 1D CFD modeling was done on Ricardo WAVE software. The results had to be validated on an experimental test bed on a Honda CBR 600R engine. Later on, the Race car was built as a team of nearly 20 students

Design and prototyping of a semi-automatic multi-utility
appliance

B.E Major project, Aug 2008

Under guidance of:
• Prof. Palavarnan, Jaya engg. colleg

The project intended to make a fully automatic multi-utility appliance. It was designed to have the following functionality:
Cloth washing
Drying
Dish washing
Water heating
Room heater
Room cooler
A scraped washing machine body was used and was modified and automated to perform the above functionalities. An 8085 micro-controller was used which ran a program to control the solenoid valves to perform desired functions.
